Taking Action
Through my experiences in both my last campaign and as an attentive observer of public discourse in other elections, I often hear people comment on the vague platitudes offered by politicians of all stripes. I hope this page helps you understand some of the ideas I have for practical steps I would begin pursuing from the moment I take office - working with City staff, Council colleagues, the Region, other levels of government, local businesses, and residents, to turn good ideas into results.
Cambridge has always been an industrial powerhouse. But we've outlasted the era of good industrial jobs. Let's retain and expand the good ones that are left for the taking, and diversify our employment sectors so as to not have all of our eggs in one basket.
Cambridge has flirted with innovative and unique solutions for housing in the past. It's time we embrace our own ideas and come up with new ones to address our housing needs.
Let's make it comfortable and safe for kids to walk to school again. Uphill both ways, of course.
The pain of rush-hour traffic is self-inflicted and does not need to be inevitable for everyone. Warning: solutions may not be popular, but they will work if implemented correctly.
A pleasant and happy city to live in requires places where it is easy and free to be happy. The current economic situation demands it.
