Your home(town) should be your happy place.
This one is more fun. Our cities should be fun. Our city is beautiful, and we should bask in its beauty while enjoying a pint with a friend on a patio, or by going to a festival in a pedestrianized square, or by watching Canada Day fireworks at the park. In sucky times, it's important to still try and have at least a little fun. For the sake of everyone's sanity.

The events pictured above, to me, are the city at its best. Rush hour sucks, snow clearing and leaf collection have been dodgy, and no one likes taxes. But humans are social, and as an organization and a Council, I'd like to put in the work to make these events easier and easier to put on. Ironing out the details in the things nobody is happy with takes time. That doesn't mean there should be no joy or communal camaraderie in the meantime - I'd argue quite the opposite.
